Job Description

Our client has an opening in their Boston office in the energy/environment practice. The responsibilities of the role include managing and assisting in the preparation of economic studies related to climate change, air quality, water quality and other energy and environmental issues. The products are typically technical reports and expert testimony. Other roles include communicating with clients, coordinating with subcontractors, prepare proposals and qualification statements for potential projects and assisting in the identification of new project areas. The types of analyses include electricity market analyses, cost-benefit analysis, cost-effectiveness analysis, natural resource valuation, and economic impact modeling.

Candidates should have a Master's or Ph.D. degree in economics, statistics, applied math or related field, with strong analytic skills and a strong academic record. Relevant experience is desirable, including experience in a consulting environment. Qualified candidates should have experience with project management, preferably in electricity markets, and a willingness to take responsibility.
More specifically, the client desires 4-6 years of total work experience after attaining a PhD.

Additionally, the ideal background would be someone who has spent a few years working at a governmental organization such as the EPA in some kind of economic analysis role involving energy/environmental issues. After that a few years spent at either an energy company, utility co, or an energy consulting firm would be highly desirable.
