Compliance Specialist

Company is a leading global independent energy company, engaged in the exploration and production of crude oil and natural gas, as well as refining and in marketing refined petroleum products, natural gas, and electricity.

The Compliance Specialist will be focused on the growing responsibilities related to an expanding compliance monitoring program. Ongoing surveillance of Business Units with specific emphasis on regulatory requirements of futures Exchanges such as NYMEX and ICE, and physical market regulators such as CFTC, FERC and FTC. Work to monitor and ensure compliance with internal trading guidelines, external regulations and market behavior rules. Interface with traders and operational staff on day-to-day basis. Work with management to develop compliance goals.

Responsibilities:

    *      Function as Business Unit compliance advisor by providing guidance to ensure compliance with all applicable trading and operational rules and regulations
    *      Monitor futures, physical and financial trading activity to prevent and detect any non-compliant or abusive market behavior or operational practices
    *     Keep abreast of rules and rule changes with respect to trading venues such as NYMEX, ICE and DME as well as market regulators such as CFTC, FERC and FTC
    

Education/Experience:

    *      3-7 years experience in energy or commodity trading industry
    *      Degree in economics, finance or related field required.
    *      Knowledge of applicable regulatory bodies such as FERC, CFTC, FTC  and associated regulations required. ISOs/RTO knowledge a plus· Compliance, regulatory or operations experience required
